Outdoor Light Painting
Have you ever wanted to know how people accomplish Outdoor light painting? Well here is my attempt to in a way teach you how to do this. You are first going to want it to be dark outside, basically, pitch black. Then you are going to need a camera with manual settings and a tripod. It also might be helpful to have a couple of people with you to help. The camera settings that will get you started are F11, ISO 200, and 30″. These will help you get those light lines we are looking for.
You will first set up your camera and make sure you focus it on something in automatic focus and then turn it to manual focus. After that, you might want a timer if you are doing this alone. Then you push the button and bam in 30 seconds you will have a beautiful outdoor light painting.
You also can create spotlight outdoor light painting by setting up your camera and then using a flashlight to light up things around you. This can be done with buildings, objects, and bridges (as seen below). As long as you don’t point the light at yourself you will not show up. Only the things the light touches will light up in the photo. If you try out this photography style I would love to see your results, You can direct message me on Instagram at Cenneidigh_Photography.
